CEO and Papa Smurf of music label Digging In The Crates Music Group AKA DITCMG finally releases another soulful beat tape that you can vibe with, or relax and maybe sip a glass of wine while listening(maybe that's just the alcoholic in me). I really hope you enjoy this Soulful Smoothie as much as I do. Don't sleep on it!  Download link below.

Big KRIT Concert in Tampa!(Video Footage)

Peace hip hop fiends, hope you are all having a music filled weekend. Sorry for the delay in posts but I had a fight with my computer and unfortunately I lost, but I am back on it now. SO.... the KRIT concert was amazing!!! It was packed and I had such a great time with my fellow hip hop cohorts, they helped make the experience 10x better. Krit performed some songs from the album, but mainly his mixtape joints.... which is mainly what everybody wanted anyway. I had the exclusive seat which was on top of my cousin's shoulders (Shoutout to Travis BTW). I got to be eye level with him and anybody that was there can attest to the fact that I was indeed THE livest person in that piece. haha. Ugh. It was mad dope. The opening acts were pretty dope also. This included Tito Lopez, Andrew Floyd, Big Sant, Casey Veggies, Josh Saint, Vagabonds, and Marlon Ponce. I'm so glad I came early so I could see everyone. The DOPENESS. Check out the video and pics below......

Video: What U Mean By Big K.R.I.T. Feat Ludacris

Big K.R.I.T. releases his latest video 'What U Mean' along with fellow southern rapper Ludacris. One time for that Sssuthern Rap. I hope to see you all the concert on August 12th in Tampa at The Ritz. Video below.....

So What U Mean, What U Mean, What U Mean, What U Mean you ain't nasty??

And then Hip Hop said, "Busta, Where are you going?"

Busta Rhymes. Straight Flava. I'm sure that all hip hop heads have chimed in on a song or two in our musical life span. To put it simply, the man is legendary and that's it. From the early ninety's on, he has given us music to party, vibe, and cruise to. Some of my personal favorite include Gimme Some More, I Know What You Want featuring Mariah Carey, Everything Remains Raw, Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See, and What's It Gonna Be featuring Janet Jackson. Let's not forget a host of features and remixes he's been on as well. When he features on a track he does his thing, and yes, he does it very well. The advantage he has over other artists is that he has the insane ability to turn a good record into a hot one with only a few bars. All due to his cadence, energy and rhymes. Busta has worked with many hip hop greats like A Tribe Called Quest, J Dilla, Raekwon the Chef, and Biggie. He has undoubtedly made his mark on the rap game in it's entirety by making the audience remember his name for more reasons than just one.

However, there is very little to be said about where his career is going. I will admit I was a little worried when he cut off his locks, but then he gave us 'The Big Bang'. It wasn't his best, but it's decent enough to listen to occasionally. This is where the problem begins. Busta releases his next album, 'Back On My B.S.' and I had to laugh because that's exactly what I thought it was, B.S. The singles we had to contend with were Respect My Conglomerate, Arab Money, and Hustlers Anthem 09. Now.... Personally I hated Arab Money and the trash that is Ron Brownz that came with it, but it seems to be the only track that did reasonably well. That track alone is not enough to make someone want to go out and buy the album. The single yes, but definitely not the album. There were no classics anywhere to be found on this album, just lots of fillers. Unfortunately because many of us love Busta, many fans myself even, let it slide as if that huge hip hop discrepancy never happened.

So. Here we are in 2012 and Busta has now signed with... Young Money (I even hate saying it) . There is no more Flipmode, just straight YMCMB. Busta Rhymes has such a phenomenal Hip Hop lineage, that this would only kill his career and stomp on his notoriety. From the looks of things, it seems to be working. What does it say about your career when you have been reduced to making tracks with... Lil Twist and new found "rapper" Chris Brown? Something is TERRIBLY wrong! I also would like to know who told Busta that he needed to rap fast ALL the time? Fast rapping should only be left up to Twista (who does it very well), not Busta. Since he has started this trend, you notice that he is only repeating himself and therefore saying much less then he use to. I will say this, do not be deceived and mistake fast rapping as 'ripping' a track. Prime example being the 'Look At Me Now' track with Chris Brown. I have ran into too many people who have told me I was crazy for thinking that Busta did not go in. He didn't. Period. Look up the lyrics and tell me i'm lying, but you already know i'm not. I just feel like YM is for entertainment purposes only. Maybe to make you laugh but definitely not for making good music or to even make you think. Quite Frankly that doesn't even matter because we listen to who we want to regardless of how bad it is. If it has a good beat and a catchy chorus-- I won't get into that now, thats another post for another day. I just know that I'll be damned if I sit back, be quiet, and continue to be fed garbage while YM turns a hip hop great into their flunky! I know Busta wants to stay relevant but this is not the way! I see the downward spiral he's in and it is making me VERY uneasy. My only request is for him to please not let us forget why we love him as an artist. Busta, you gotta hang on to your Hip Hop integrity and show these new comers why you are one of the greatest!

Throwback Video: Best Of Me Remix by Mya Feat Jay-Z

Mixtape: From Around The Way By Scott Aye

Released at the very end of 2011, the "From Around The Way" mixtape is more than a treat for the ears. It is more along the lines of a full course meal and better than most mainstream albums. But that's why you and I love underground music because of tapes like these. There are 13 tracks with features from artists like Hometown Hero, Reshe, Craig Tillman,  Mighty Jai, and RTTR. I played the whole thing through 4 times in one day so go figure. Don't sleep on the Hip Hop madness. Be sure to check out the tracks called Underdawgs, Things Ain't Been The Same, I Know, and Sofia's Song. Listen/ Download link below.

Video: Dilla Still Illa

You already know how I about the Hip Hop genius that is J Dilla. Check out Prince Golden as pays homage over J Dilla's "Last Donut of the Night" track from the Donuts album. Check out the rest of the Dilla Still Illa mixtape here.

The Mix Up III

Good evening/morning people, hope you are starting your week off in a positive way. This past Saturday I along with some other Hip Hop heads attended a pretty live event down in Ybor called "The Mix up III" located at the market on 7th ave. Hosted by the dopeness that is DJ Qeys  and Prince Golden of  local group Samurai Shotgun, they put on a great show. Some of the local acts included Aok, Goldlynx, Kay Blokx, Craig Tillman, and Genolexis. I managed to record some of the acts. Check out the footage below.

The Launch

Peace world, hope all is well. Last night I had the absolute pleasure of attending a Hip Hop and fashion event called "The Launch". It was hosted by the urban collective that is Forever Debonair and local spitta Hometown Hero. Forever Debonair's own Jayy Cannon and Joerod Collier showcased their own brands called Truly Phresh Clothing and Surreal Styles, which were indeed the DOPENESS. There were performances by local acts Scott Aye, Hometown Hero, and Dez Green as well. They definitely held it down and displayed what I call real Hip Hop. I know everyone one who was in attendance would cosign that without a doubt. This event was all about music, fashion, and connecting with like minds. I managed to snap some pics on my phone in the midst of the excitement and you can check them out below. I will be posting music from all the artists in the future, so keep your eyes peeled. Shout out to Jayy Cannon, MediaMouthMel, And Joerod Collier of Forever Debonair. Be sure to click on their name and check out their blog as well, they are too fly.  Shout out to Dj Tayy, she lit up the stage like no other. Shout out to Original Concepts for the dope photography and videography he provides. All the performers, at the event and everyone I came in contact with during the event, it was truly an experience. I also cannot forget Prince Golden of Samurai Shotgun(still jamming that Dilla Still Illa!)
